Physician's Briefing: High Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure increase risk of Diabetes Retinopathy

More than 50% of the people surveyed were unaware that cholesterol and blood pressure increase the risk of Diabetes Retinopathy. These can be effectively managed through diet and lifestyle!!


Only 37% of American adults know that seeing spots or floaters is a symptom of diabetic retinopathy and 47% were not aware that blurry central vision was also a symptom, according to a survey of 1,000 American adults conducted by the American Society of Retina Specialists. The survey also found 64% didn't know that high cholesterol raises the risk of diabetic retinopathy and 48% were unaware that high blood pressure is a risk factor.
